Heung-min Son extends sponsorship deal with Adidas, bringing the partnership to 20 years

South Korean national soccer team captain Son Heung-min (Tottenham) has extended his sponsorship deal with global sports brand Adidas by five years, continuing a 20-year partnership.

 

On July 19, Adidas announced, “We have extended our sponsorship agreement with Son Heung-min by five years. Until July 2028.” Son visited Adidas’ German headquarters to sign the deal.

 

Heung-min, who has been sponsored by Adidas since 2008 when he played for Hamburg (Germany), will be supported by Adidas for 20 years.

 

“With the exception of David Beckham (England) and Zinedine Zidane (France), who have continued their partnerships after retirement, it is very rare for an active athlete like Lionel Messi (Argentina) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) to sign a sponsorship deal with a sports brand for more than 20 years,” said Adidas.

While details of the contract were not disclosed, Adidas reportedly offered Son the highest contract ever for an Asian player.
